Mary was born and raised in the West of Ireland, and was educated at University College Cork, with an undergraduate in Music and a post graduate in Education. She relocated to the U.S. with her family in 1988, settling in Andover. Mary served on the Finance Committee for a number of years before running for the Board of Selectmen in 2014.

   Ms. O'Donoghue's current Selectman term ends in March 2017.
